Encompass Health Corporation has opened a 50-bed inpatient rehabilitation hospital in The Villages, expanding clinical capacity within one of Florida’s largest and fastest-growing retirement communities. The facility, branded as Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Central Florida – Sumter County, began admitting patients earlier this month with private-room accommodations and comprehensive therapy services.
Clinical programming targets recovery from strokes, traumatic brain injuries, spinal cord damage, amputations, and complex orthopedic procedures. Treatment protocols include minimum three-hour daily therapy sessions five days weekly, delivered by multidisciplinary teams of physicians, nurses, and specialized therapists. On-site amenities include an integrated pharmacy, advanced therapy gym equipment, dialysis suite, and outdoor training areas designed for activities of daily living practice.
The opening represents one component of Encompass Health’s 2025 expansion strategy, which encompasses seven new hospitals, one 50-bed satellite facility, and 100 to 120 beds added across existing locations nationwide. Company occupancy metrics have climbed from 72.1 percent in 2023 to 77.7 percent during the first half of 2025, while net operating revenues rose 11.3 percent year-over-year to $2.91 billion for the same period.
Full-year 2025 revenue projections range between $5.88 billion and $5.98 billion as the operator strengthens its presence in high-growth retirement markets.
