OhioHealth has completed a $3.15 million pharmacy expansion at Van Wert Hospital, doubling the facility’s pharmaceutical service area to support growing demand for specialized medication preparation and infusion therapies.
The project adds two dedicated clean rooms engineered for sterile compounding, along with expanded storage capacity and enlarged receiving areas for temperature-sensitive medications. These upgrades enable staff to prepare complex treatments including intravenous compounds, injectable therapies, and customized medication formulations under controlled conditions that minimize contamination risks.
Pharmacy manager Renee Jacquemin noted the expansion allows more efficient preparation of acute care medications and outpatient infusion treatments, directing more staff time toward direct patient care activities. The enhanced infrastructure supports administration of specialty drugs and therapies that previously required referrals to larger medical centers.
