Encompass Health and Piedmont Open Eastside Rehabilitation Hospital With In-House Dialysis Suite in Loganvill

Encompass Health and Piedmont have opened Eastside Rehabilitation Hospital in Loganville, Georgia. The 40-bed, 52,000 SF inpatient facility serves Gwinnett County and marks the eighth joint venture between the two organizations and Encompass Health’s ninth hospital in the state.

A new 40-bed inpatient rehabilitation hospital has begun admitting patients in Loganville, Georgia, broadening access to specialized recovery care across the eastern edge of the Atlanta metropolitan area. Eastside Rehabilitation Hospital, developed jointly by Encompass Health and Piedmont, occupies more than 52,000 SF and serves residents of Gwinnett County and neighboring communities.

Clinical programming targets patients recovering from strokes, traumatic brain injuries, spinal cord injuries, amputations, and complex orthopedic conditions. Each patient receives at least three hours of intensive therapy five days per week, supported by frequent physician oversight and around-the-clock nursing. That intensity reflects the federal threshold separating inpatient rehabilitation facilities from skilled nursing settings, where therapy hours run considerably lower.

Design features include all private patient rooms, a therapy gym, an activities of daily living suite, an in-house dialysis suite, a therapy courtyard, a dining room, an on-site pharmacy, and dayroom areas. Embedding dialysis capacity within the building allows medically complex patients to continue renal treatment without transferring to an outside provider.

This opening marks the eighth joint venture between Encompass Health and Piedmont, and the ninth Encompass Health hospital operating in Georgia. Partner facilities already span Newnan, Henry, Phenix City, Columbus, Atlanta, Augusta, and Athens. Encompass Health operates 176 hospitals across 39 states and Puerto Rico, while Piedmont ranks as the largest healthcare system in Georgia.

The two organizations announced the opening on June 9, 2026, with the hospital located in Loganville and now accepting patients.
