McLeod Health gave the public its first look inside a new acute care hospital in Carolina Forest, South Carolina, hosting a ribbon cutting and open house on August 27 for area leaders, healthcare providers, community partners and residents. Visitors toured the facility ahead of an opening scheduled for this fall.
Carolina Forest has never had an inpatient hospital of its own, and Horry County has not seen a new one built since McLeod Health Seacoast came online in 2011. Work on the surrounding campus began in 2016, placing the ribbon cutting at the end of a development sequence running close to a decade.
Donna Isgett, President and CEO of McLeod Health, framed the day as “a promise fulfilled by McLeod Health to the people of Carolina Forest.” Scott Montgomery, CEO of McLeod Health Carolina Forest, described the project as a response to community requests for broader access to services, pairing advanced technology with caregivers in a setting shaped around local residents.
Programming spans inpatient care, emergency services, surgical services, laboratory services and rehabilitation, with the rehabilitation component covering physical, speech, occupational and pediatric therapy. Radiology capability reaches across X-ray, CT, MRI, ultrasound, 3D mammography, nuclear medicine, echocardiogram, fluoroscopy, vascular services and bone density testing, all housed on site according to McLeod Health.
