Cleveland Clinic is planning a major expansion of its Avon campus in Lorain County, a $340 million project designed to increase inpatient, outpatient, and specialty care capacity for growing west side communities. The initiative will expand both Avon Hospital and the adjacent Richard E. Jacobs Family Health Center, nearly doubling the size of the campus located off Nagel Road.
Planned improvements at Avon Hospital include a new bed tower, additional operating rooms, a larger emergency department, and expanded laboratory and imaging space. Opened in 2016 with 126 beds, the hospital has experienced sustained growth in patient volume, including significant increases in surgeries, admissions, and diagnostic services.
The Richard E. Jacobs Family Health Center will add approximately 90 exam rooms and expand cancer care services, including radiation oncology. Additional campus improvements include a new parking structure to support increased activity.
Construction is scheduled to begin in 2026 with completion targeted for 2028. The Avon investment is part of a broader $600 million effort to strengthen Cleveland Clinic’s west submarket, according to a system announcement.
