Dosher Memorial Hospital has opened a new emergency department in Southport, North Carolina, expanding its acute care capacity.
The new facility totals approximately 8,000 SF and is twice the size of the hospital’s previous emergency department. Hospital officials said the space was designed to improve provider workflow and patient care delivery.
The project was first announced in April 2023 as part of a broader hospital expansion and renovation initiative. Following the opening, the former emergency department will be converted into a provider clinic.
The new emergency department is located at the corner of North Howe Street and East 9th Street, with patient parking accessed from East 9th Street, according to WECT.
