Valley Health System has presented conceptual plans to the Paramus Planning Board to expand The Valley Hospital in New Jersey. The proposal would add roughly 100 licensed beds in a new patient care wing plus a parking structure. Construction could begin in 2027 pending approvals.
Valley Health System has brought conceptual expansion plans for The Valley Hospital before municipal reviewers in Paramus, New Jersey, outlining added inpatient capacity and structured parking at a campus relocated there in 2024. Leadership from the independent system appeared before the Paramus Planning Board on July 16 to describe a proposed patient care wing carrying roughly 100 licensed beds, along with a parking structure intended to serve patients, visitors, and staff.
This proposal follows a period of measurable volume growth. During 2025, the hospital recorded 31,991 admissions and 81,664 emergency department visits, increases of 6.1 percent and 4.3 percent over the prior year. Births reached 4,459, a 14.2 percent gain and one of the higher annual totals across a history that spans 75 years.
Growth of this kind reflects broader forces shaping healthcare demand across northern New Jersey and southern New York, the region the system serves. An aging population, rising prevalence of chronic conditions, and diagnostic advances that identify illness earlier all tend to push utilization upward. Operators across the Northeast have answered similar pressure with capital programs that add beds and modernize older facilities.
As described, the new wing would function as a dedicated specialty inpatient pavilion for high-demand clinical services and would connect to the existing building while matching its architecture. Plans remain conceptual and depend on completed design, regulatory approval, and municipal review, according to Valley Health System. Construction has not started, and work is anticipated to begin in 2027 if approvals are secured.
Parties to the proposal are Valley Health System and the Paramus Planning Board. The location is Paramus in Bergen County, New Jersey. The plan adds roughly 100 licensed beds within a new patient care wing and a separate parking structure at The Valley Hospital.
