Saint Alphonsus broke ground June 25 on a major expansion of its Nampa Medical Center in Idaho. Plans add a seven-story patient tower, 64 new beds, and roughly 254,000 SF, more than doubling the Canyon County campus. Hospital leaders expect the expanded facility to open in November 2028.
Saint Alphonsus Health System turned dirt on June 25, 2026, to begin a multi-year expansion of its medical center in Nampa, Idaho, a project set to more than double the size of the existing Canyon County hospital.
Plans call for a seven-story patient tower alongside a two-story vertical addition to the current building, adding roughly 254,000 SF of new space while reconfiguring about 62,000 SF already in use. Once finished, the campus will hold 64 additional medical, surgical, and intensive care beds, with shell space framed for later growth.
Broadened clinical capacity is slated to reach oncology, cardiology, pediatrics, neurology, surgery, and women’s health, letting Canyon County residents pursue specialized treatment without driving to Boise. Leaders also tie construction-phase hiring and a new Nampa family medicine residency, built with the Mountain States Institute for Graduate Medical Education and Research, to a workforce pipeline meant to staff the larger hospital by 2028.
Demand for added capacity traces to rapid regional change. Census figures rank Canyon County among the nation’s fastest-growing counties, with population up 15.5 percent between 2020 and 2024, while forecasters expect the wider Treasure Valley to near one million residents in the decades ahead.
This work follows a companion Saint Alphonsus project in north Meridian, an 80,000 SF health plaza rising at Highway 16 and Chinden Road and scheduled to open in spring 2028. Saint Alphonsus advances both projects as a member of Trinity Health, one of the country’s larger not-for-profit health systems. As reported by Idaho News (CBS2), the Nampa expansion sits at 4300 E. Flamingo Avenue, carries an estimated completion date of November 2028, and was designed with HGA Architects.
