Fortin Family Foundations Gives $5 Million to Pediatrics as St. Vincent’s 14-Story Billings Hospital Climbs Toward 2029

Intermountain Health’s new St. Vincent Regional Hospital in Billings has reached nearly five floors, with the 14-story replacement tower set to open in 2029. The Fortin Family Foundations has committed $5 million to support pediatrics at the new facility.

Construction is advancing on a new St. Vincent Regional Hospital in Billings, Montana, where crews have raised steel to nearly five floors of an eventual 14-story tower. Intermountain Health, which operates the facility, broke ground on the project a little over a year ago and reports that the structure remains on track.

A new philanthropic commitment is supporting the work. The Fortin Family Foundations has pledged $5 million to a fundraising campaign tied to the development, with the gift directed toward pediatric services at the future facility. Charitable campaigns frequently accompany large healthcare capital projects, allowing health systems to fund specialized programs alongside core construction budgets.

Weather has influenced the timeline in both directions. A mild winter helped crews move ahead of schedule during the early phases, while later windy conditions slowed portions of the work. Projects of this scale, which fully replace an existing hospital rather than expand it, typically proceed through sequenced phases as new towers rise adjacent to operating facilities.

Intermountain Health, a nonprofit system serving the Mountain West, oversees care across Montana and Wyoming through its regional philanthropy and operations teams. This building represents a complete replacement of the existing St. Vincent hospital in Billings.

According to MTN News, the project is expected to open in 2029. The 14-story St. Vincent Regional Hospital sits in Billings, Montana, is owned and operated by Intermountain Health, and carries a $5 million pediatrics commitment from the Fortin Family Foundations.
