AdventHealth Carrollwood has confirmed plans to begin construction on a major expansion of its hospital campus in Central Hillsborough County, located a few miles north of downtown Tampa. At the center of the project is a new six-story patient tower designed to raise inpatient capacity and broaden the specialty services available locally.
Hospital leadership outlined the scope of the work during a community conversation held on June 18. Plans call for a new cardiac catheterization and electrophysiology lab, additional surgical support areas, and flexible space intended to accommodate future growth as patient volumes continue to climb.
Demographic pressure helps explain the timing of the investment. More than 300,000 residents now live within a short distance of the facility, and demand for complex inpatient care has risen steadily. Some patients in the area have previously traveled outside the region to reach higher-acuity services, a gap the expanded campus is intended to narrow.
AdventHealth Carrollwood already operates cardiac, stroke, orthopedic, and surgical programs, and the new tower builds on that base toward more advanced inpatient and procedural care. The addition reflects a broader pattern across health systems serving fast-growing suburban markets, where operators are directing capital toward facilities positioned near rising local demand.

Construction is set to begin soon. A new parking garage will open ahead of the patient tower, and the tower itself is expected to welcome patients in 2029.
