The University of Kansas Health System has opened Quivira Ambulatory Surgery Center in Olathe, its third outpatient location. The center will scale to 10 operating rooms and more than 6,000 procedures annually, adding gynecological surgery and same-day joint replacement.
The University of Kansas Health System has opened a new outpatient surgery facility in Olathe, broadening its presence across the Kansas City metro area. Quivira Ambulatory Surgery Center occupies the second floor of the Quivira Campus at 12000 W. 151st St.
Once it reaches full capacity, the center is built to operate 10 operating rooms alongside 35 preoperative and postanesthesia care bays. Projections call for more than 6,000 procedures each year. Six surgical specialties will work from the site: ear, nose and throat; general surgery; gynecology; orthopedics; plastic surgery; and urology.
Two services mark firsts for the system’s ambulatory network. Quivira becomes its initial outpatient location offering gynecological surgery, and it introduces same-day total joint replacement to the system’s surgery centers.
This facility raises the system’s ambulatory surgery center count to three, joining Indian Creek in Overland Park and KU MedWest in Shawnee. The University of Kansas Health System announced the opening on November 7, 2025.
